In a clash of muted tones, soulful fantasy characters and neo-surrealism, my paintings promise a familiar yet ever-changing aesthetic. They are a metaphorical exploration of unanswered existential questions and in the depiction of these characters and scenes, we are forced to question our own existence and consider spaces and forces greater than our comprehension. With it’s melancholy humour and uncanny symbolism, the work itself is the yo-yo of despair and acceptance we switch between as we try to make sense of life. I reflect upon moods and the various states of the psyche reminding us also of the complexity of the self.

I paint shifting mental landscapes fraught with bizarre and intrusive thoughts, sometimes turmoil, other times peace. Working from the female gaze, I am determined to pull forgotten female artists back into the limelight through the portal of my paintings.
